There is nothing quite like a getaway from Melbourne to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Depending upon what you are looking for there is no shortage of options to satisfy your holiday requirements.

If you are a local or a visitor to Victoria, the Great Ocean Road is a must see for anyone. If you have a car or the chance to hire a car for this journey it is highly recommended otherwise there are numerous tour services available which can bus you out there. Located about 100km from Melbourne or a 1.5 hour drive this is definitely an adventure you want to leave for relatively early in the morning in order to maximise your day there.

During the drive you’ll definitely begin to get hungry, so here are a couple of faves for you to check out during your time down along the Great Ocean Road. The Aireys Pub is a fantastic stop for lunch on your way down before continuing on towards the Great Ocean Road. Another favourite for a great coffee and brunch is The Wye General, this little cafe in a small town is certainly worth your while.

Along the Great Ocean Road there are plenty of towns to stop in to enjoy including Angelsea, Torquay, Lorne and many more. If you are the adventurous type then make sure you pack your running shoes or hiking boots as there is lots of exploration to be done inland of the Great Ocean Road. Some locations that are definitely worth checking out whilst along the Great Ocean Road are Erskine Falls and the 12 apostles.
